PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Many homes today have been pre-wired with coaxial cables to distributes the Audio/Video signal. But you still need to send the IR control codes. The Powermid XL infrared remote control extender allows you to use existing remote control units to operate TV, VCR, Stereo, CD player, DVD or satellite systems from anywhere in the home. No installation is required as the units simply plug in to any AC outlet. Powermid XL works with any infrared controller including fast format code.
The complete Powermid XL system consists of a transmitter unit and a receiver unit . The Powermid Transmitter and Receiver are each equiped with a captive lead and plug for connection to a mains outlet. The receiver should ideally be positioned so that the face of the unit with the logo on is facing the infrared detector in the television/VCR etc. to be operated. In many cases, however, satisfactory operation will be obtained by placing the unit on top of the TV.
The Powermid Transmitter receives infrared pulses from remote control units and re-transmits them as RF pulses at 433.92 Mhz. These transmissions are detected by the Powermid Receiver which converts them back into infrared signals and sends them to the audio and video equipment. No attempt is made to decode or convert infrared signals from their original format. This allows Powermid to work with almost any remote control unit and TV/video/Hi-Fi combination. Simply plug in and it works.
If you need to control equipment from more than one room, add a single Powermid Transmitter. If your equipment is in more than one location, add a second Powermid Receiver. All the Powermid products work on the same frequency so expansion is easy.
If your equipment is in a closed cabinet, an optional miniature extension IR emitter that plugs into the back of the receiver can be wired into the cabinet to change the channels from another room.
